A blooming love affair – Fashion and the Prince of Afro-Pop

Ntando Bangani performed on the 21st August 2010 at the Emerald Casino Resort this past weekend to a craze of fans – mostly female, as a tribute to women’s month celebration. The prince of Afro-pop melted hearts and caused knees to tremble as he entertained his adoring fans. What was also interesting and got everyone talking this time-around were the different looks that he emerged on stage with during his one hour 30 minutes performance.

His first and second look.

The award-winning recording artist was dressed by Carducci for his women’s month celebration concert. His selection included three looks for stage, one for interviews and another for the after party from the Carducci black and C2 range. These were pieces that would make him look uber-chic and allow him to move.

Local press and adoring fans were certainly impressed with the heartthrob musician for putting his best fashion-foot forward. There were even comments on the shoe he wore with the outfits via his Facebook fan-page, “the shoe looks even better live – I saw it whilst you were performing” said Nokwanda, one of his fans.

Meeting with Fans

“Ntando recognizes that he is first and foremost a brand, and for his upcoming album his sound is of a much broader appeal, to the rest of Africa and world at large. It is then fitting for his image to slightly evolve and appeal to a wide audience in a bespoke, credible and relevant manner”, said Nyamazelo, who is part of the consulting brand management team.

It is not a secret that a lot of South African musicians do not come to the party when it comes to dressing the part on and off stage. It is good to see a growing number of artists that are raising the bar when it comes to their appearance.
We will be keeping an eye on this blooming love-affair between fashion and the Prince of Afro-Pop as he performs again at the annual Tribute to South African Music Heroes concert in Moretele Park in Tshwane on the 29th August 2010.
