Black on Both Sides is the debut solo album of American rapper Mos Def (known today as Yasiin Bey), released October 12, 1999 on the Rawkus Records label. The album features an emphasis on live instrumentation and socially conscious lyrics. It was certified gold by the RIAA in 2000 and is hailed as one of the most influential hip-hop albums of all time.
